Histopathological analysis of the liver in hypercholesterolemia rats treated with Dillenia serrata fruits

Background: Dillenia serrata (locally known as singi) is a natural product with the potential to improve liver function in hypercholesterolemia, due anticholesterol and antioxidant properties.
 Objective: This study aimed investigate effect of D. on histopathological features rat livers induced by high-fat diet.
 Methods: used quasi-experimental vivo post-test-only control group design. Rats were divided into four groups: normal, diet, well serrata, simvastatin treatment. Hypercholesterolemia was diet for two weeks. Rat tissues analyzed histologically using Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining, observed under light microscope at 40x magnification five wide fields view.
 Results: The had most adipose cells, while least. Statistical analysis demonstrated significant difference between other groups (p < 0.05). Interestingly, no either normal or > 0.05), suggesting treatment fruit may restore comparable group.
